What is Good Artwork?

Good artwork is essential to produce top-quality images.
This is the most essential information you need for the preparation of artwork so your finished product will meet your expectations. It is important for you to understand that VERY BIG graphics can be made from very small files as long as the resolution is high. Without high resolution the image becomes blurry and the pixels begin to show as the image is blown up to finished size. We will not produce an image that will disappoint you; good artwork is key to the finished product.

If computereze is Greek to you, don't despair; contact us. We can help, or we can produce your art for you!

Electronic Files
We can accept your files via:
Zip 100 MB
CD
3.5" floppy
Email
(please note that vectorized files are subject to damage when they travel on the Internet. Please compress vector files).

Software: (PC or Mac)
Illustrator 6.0 or higher
CorelDraw 7.0 or higher
Photoshop 5.0 or higher
We accept Mac OS files or PC files. Contents must be saved in either Adobe Illustrator EPS or CorelDraw EPS files. Illustrator and CorelDraw create vector files (outlines or curves), which are very important when we enlarge your image. EPS files should not be mistaken by simply saving with the letters "EPS" at the end of the file name. For example, Photoshop files saved in the EPS format are still bitmap files. Do not supply logos or other line-work illustrations as bitmapped art.

Often people think that the graphics they find on the web can be used for printing or cutting. Because web graphics are very low resolution your project will not reproduce well. Most web graphics are clones of better quality files and it is worth the effort to obtain the vector-based graphics for your project.

Scanned images need to be saved at an appropriate resolution of 300 dpi at no less than 1/4 of final size. Please note that this does not apply to artwork being used for billboards - call us for specifications on those files. Save Photoshop file in TIFF format in CMYK color. A 12" x 8" Photoshop image @300 dpi between 60 & 80 MB will yield very good results when enlarged to 48" wide, but beyond that you will begin to notice a drop in quality.

All desired colors should be specified. Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw can convert your colors to CMYK . Digital printing on vinyl can be difficult without the proper files. If a pantone color match is critical, PLEASE let us know. Also, it is much easier for us to manipulate colors in EPS files if something needs to be "tweaked".

Please supply all fonts.

Please save all files in an editable (flattened) format; do not embed files.

We cannot use bitmap or JPEG files for cutting vinyl. Files provided in this manner are fine for digital printing, but will incur a $60 per hour charge to convert the image into a useable form if we are using them on a cut job.

Proof Sample

It is very important to include a color paper printout with your electronic files. When we see the contents of your art (with PMS numbers) we can check for possible errors. If you have several shades of the same color make sure that the primary colors (CMYK) blends are identified. It is important to note that inks that are used on paper are not the same as foils that are used on vinyl. The colors will be a very close match, but there are cases where you will see a variance. Exact color matches are not always possible.
